The Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway turned into a chaotic spectacle due to an endless stream of wrecks, affecting multiple contenders' championship hopes. The race saw numerous incidents involving Chase contenders, with drivers like Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney suffering significant damage.
On Lap 3, Daniel Suarez's contact with Tyler Reddick put the latter at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. The trouble continued on Lap 20 when Noah Gragson and Shane Van Gisbergen spun, triggering a multi-car accident that collected several drivers.
The consequences became more severe as the race progressed, with multiple incidents involving Chase contenders. On Lap 141, Joey Logano led the restart from the outside, but Kyle Larson on the inside caused him to spin, while Chase Briscoe and Bubba Wallace made contact while battling for sixth and spun.
