Wright Visits Venezuela, Signs Deal with Chevron
U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright made a high-profile visit to Venezuela on September 2, where he met with Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez and signed an agreement between U.S. oil major Chevron and government officials to expand the company's operations.
The deal was announced after Wright toured areas damaged by the June 24 earthquakes in Catia La Mar, La Guaira state, Venezuela. He also met with engineers and structural experts from Miyamoto International.
The agreement between Chevron and the Venezuelan government aims to increase the company's presence in the country, which has been struggling with economic crises and sanctions imposed by the U.S. government.
