WVU Athletics Partners with Antero Resources for Jersey Patches
West Virginia University (WVU) Athletics has announced a five-year jersey patch partnership with Antero Resources, one of the largest producers of natural gas and gas liquids in the United States. The deal marks the first jersey partnership in WVU's history and will feature the Antero Resources logo above the Nike logo on all 18 home and away uniforms.
The partnership is valued at an undisclosed amount, but it's estimated to be around $20 million annually, similar to deals signed by other schools like Ohio State with JPMorgan and Notre Dame with SoFi. The jersey patches will have different colorways to ensure visibility on all iterations of the home and away jerseys.
WVU Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said, 'This is an historic day for West Virginia Athletics, and I am grateful that Antero is part of the Mountaineer family.' He added that the partnership demonstrates West Virginia's status as an energy state and Antero's commitment to the region.
Antero Resources President and CEO Michael Kennedy stated, 'We are excited to be sewn into the fabric of Mountaineer Athletics. It is a demonstration that West Virginia is an energy state and a demonstration of Antero's commitment to West Virginia.'
