WVU Heads to Orlando for Inaugural Baseball Classic
West Virginia University's (WVU) baseball team is heading to Orlando for the inaugural Orlando Baseball Classic in 2027. The Mountaineers will play a three-game series from February 26-28 at ESPN Wide World of Sports, a venue located within Walt Disney World Resort.
The classic will feature WVU against Indiana State on the 26th, St. John's on the 27th, and Michigan on the 28th. The Sycamores, who went 30-27 last season, are expected to bring a competitive edge to the game. They were a scrappy bunch that gave power conference teams a run for their money.
St. John's had a remarkable year, winning a share of the Big East regular season title and taking home the conference tournament trophy. However, they fell short in the Super Regionals against Alabama. Michigan finished 2026 with a 34-24 record but narrowly missed out on an NCAA Tournament spot.
WVU head coach Steve Sabins expressed excitement about competing in the Orlando Baseball Classic, citing the venue's excellent weather and world-class baseball facilities. Fans from across the country can enjoy top-notch collegiate baseball amidst the magic of Walt Disney World.
