Xbox 360 Games Headed to PC, Project Helix via Microsoft's Emulator
Microsoft has reportedly planned to allow developers to bring their Xbox 360 games to PC and other Xbox devices. A leaked document sent to Microsoft's partners revealed a roadmap for features, including backward compatibility for classic Xbox titles on upcoming hardware.
The alleged plan is to make it easy for developers to port their Xbox 360 games to PC, Project Helix, and other Xbox devices without needing to do any engineering work themselves. The feature will reportedly be handled by Microsoft's Xbox PC emulator.
The rollout of eligible titles is expected to begin between 2027 and 2028 on next-gen Xbox hardware. Developers will have control over pricing and Game Pass availability for their games. However, it remains unclear how this strategy will fit into an increasingly digital gaming landscape.
