Xbox Adds Physical Games to Digital Library in Major Shift
Microsoft has announced that it will allow users to add physical games to their digital Xbox library. This move comes after Sony's decision to end support for physical games entirely.
The program, which is set to begin rolling out for Xbox Insiders on August 31, aims to make it easier for players to access their game libraries across different devices.
According to Microsoft, the goal of this initiative is to allow players to 'move forward' with their libraries and provide a more seamless gaming experience. The company has stated that it will start by allowing users to claim thousands of titles on disc and add them to their digital library.
This feature also grants access to games via Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming, meaning users can play the game from any device with an internet connection, including phones and PCs. The physical game itself remains functional, even after being added to the user's account.
