Xbox App Now Aggregates Games from Steam, Epic, and Other Stores
Microsoft has rolled out an update to the Xbox app on Windows PCs that aggregates games from multiple storefronts, including Steam and Epic Games Store. As of August 17, 2026, users can see their games from different libraries in a single view within the Xbox app.
This change is part of Microsoft's broader strategy to shift its focus away from console hardware sales and towards software and services. The company has raised prices on its Xbox consoles worldwide, discontinued the 2TB Xbox Series X Galaxy Black model, and introduced a new Game Pass Premium tier that includes access to handheld gaming.
The updated Xbox app does not replace Steam or Epic Games Store as storefronts, but rather acts as a unified index of games from all libraries. This means that users can see their entire game library in one place, regardless of where they purchased the games.
