Xbox Cloud Gaming Hit with 15-Hour Monthly Cap
Microsoft is reportedly capping Xbox Cloud Gaming at 15 hours per month due to rising compute demand and increasing costs. The company estimates that cloud gaming becomes a loss-making service once a subscriber streams for more than 15 hours in a month.
The limit will apply to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, who will be capped at 15 hours, while Game Pass Premium and Essential subscribers will have 10 and 5 hours respectively. Once these limits are reached, users can buy additional cloud playtime.
Microsoft estimates that around 4% of Game Pass subscribers currently stream more than 15 hours a month, which would be affected by the new cap. However, this figure does not reflect total cloud usage, as it includes both heavy and light users.
