Xbox Cloud Gaming Introduces Monthly Time Limits Amid Rising Infrastructure Costs
Microsoft will introduce monthly time limits for Xbox Cloud Gaming in November.
The limits will be tied to each Game Pass tier, with Essential subscribers getting five hours of streaming per month, Premium subscribers getting ten hours, and Ultimate subscribers getting fifteen hours.
Non-subscribers can purchase additional streaming hours to play games they own in the cloud.
The main reason for this change is the increasing cost of maintaining the streaming infrastructure, which Microsoft estimates will be affected by only about 4% of Game Pass subscribers.
This move follows Microsoft's recent subscription price cuts and its testing of a free plan that shows ads before one-hour game sessions for titles users own.
