Xbox Converts Physical Game Discs into Digital Licences
Microsoft has announced its Disc-to-Digital feature, which will allow owners of physical Xbox games to access their digital versions. The testing phase is set to begin on August 31st for participants in the Xbox Insider programme.
To obtain a digital licence, users need to insert a supported disc into an Xbox One or Series X with a disc drive and launch the game. Initially, the feature will cover thousands of games, but not all releases will be compatible.
Microsoft promises to gradually expand the list of supported titles. Once activated, players will be able to use the features of the digital version, including launching the game on PC via Xbox Play Anywhere or streaming it via Xbox Cloud Gaming, provided the specific title supports these services.
