Young Jets Teardown: Industry Taps Spare Parts Goldmine Amid Supply Chain Struggles
Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are being dismantled to meet growing demand for spare parts, even though they're relatively young.
More than 10 of these modern jets will be torn apart this year by TARMAC Aerosave, an aircraft recycling specialist, as part of a program with aviation aftermarket company AerFin.
The decision is driven by supply chain challenges that have persisted since the pandemic, affecting everything from engines and landing gear to avionics and windows.
AerFin's Chief Commercial Officer Simon Bayliss said: 'This latest programme reflects the strength of our partnership and the value it continues to create for customers as demand for new-generation aircraft material grows.'
