$100 Billion Question: Who Will Fund US-Venezuela Oil Deal?
The US government is backing NABEP's effort to increase oil production in Venezuela, but it needs $100 billion in investment over the coming years. The company plans to deploy more than 50 drilling rigs and produce over 1 million barrels of oil per day.
NABEP will give the US a 35% equity interest in the business, as well as access to part of the oil produced. The US could also buy 20% of the new oil output at production cost and an additional 80% at market prices.
The project aims to increase production faster than expected, with Trump suggesting Americans could feel the impact within two years. However, securing the $100 billion in funding remains a major challenge.
