$200bn South Korean Investment in US Includes Record-Breaking Alaska LNG Project
US President Donald Trump announced that South Korea will invest $200 billion in the United States, including $54 billion for the Alaska LNG project. This investment is part of a broader $350 billion trade and investment agreement between Washington and Seoul.
The Alaska project involves building an 807-mile natural gas pipeline connecting the North Slope to an LNG export terminal in southern Alaska. Trump described it as 'one of the largest energy infrastructure investments in American history.'
South Korea will review the pipeline and terminal project, but it will proceed only if commercial and legal conditions are met. The profits from this project will be split equally between South Korea and the US until Seoul recovers its principal investment.
