Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has criticized officials for selecting an incorrect site for the Surkhandarya power plant, which will cost an additional $300 million to supply natural gas.

The project, being built by SCE-Quvvat in Angor district, was initially announced with participation from Nebras Power of Qatar, Stone City Energy of the Netherlands, Siemens Energy and France's EDF.

Mirziyoyev stated that the site selection was made without considering the costs of connecting the plant to the gas supply network, resulting in substantial additional investment.
