$4 Gas Prices Soar Across Florida Amid Ongoing Global Tensions
Gas prices in Florida have surpassed $4 per gallon, according to AAA - The Auto Club Group. Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA, attributed the surge to increased tensions in the Middle East, which has caused oil prices to rise and subsequently increase the cost of producing gasoline. This price hike is now being felt at gas pumps across the state.
The average price in Miami and Fort Lauderdale is 21 cents higher than a month ago and $1.24 more than last year, according to GasBuddy. North Florida remains the cheapest area to pump gas, while the Keys and Palm Beach County are the most expensive areas.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, warned that motorists should expect continued volatility in gas prices due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and refinery attacks. He noted that diesel prices could climb even faster than gasoline.
