$50 Billion South Korea Investment Revives Stalled Alaska LNG Project
A $50 billion investment from South Korean partners is moving the Alaska LNG project forward after decades of delays.
Glenfarne Alaska LNG, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Group, welcomed President Donald J. Trump's announcement of the investment, which enables the long-sought development to clear a major hurdle and push the multibillion-dollar pipeline and export facility closer to construction.
The project involves an 807-mile, 42-inch pipeline to deliver natural gas from Alaska's North Slope to meet the country's domestic needs, as well as a North Slope gas treatment plant and a 20 mtpa LNG terminal in Nikiski, Alaska.
Glenfarne owns 75% of Alaska LNG, with the State of Alaska holding the remaining 25%. The investment represents a major financing milestone for the project, providing the foundation to advance it toward final investment decision (FID) and construction.
