$51 Billion Argentina LNG Project Seeks Approval for Major Export Push
Argentina's YPF-led consortium has submitted its $51 billion Argentina LNG project for approval under the country's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), marking a major step forward in developing Vaca Muerta natural gas for large-scale exports.
The integrated project will involve upstream gas production in Neuquén, dedicated pipelines, gas processing and liquids fractionation facilities, as well as two floating LNG units offshore Río Negro in the Gulf of San Matías. The two FLNG units will have a combined liquefaction capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum (MMtpa).
The $51 billion investment represents planned expenditures over the life of the project, making it the largest private investment proposed in Argentina and the largest project submitted under the RIGI framework to date.
