$61M Crypto Seizure Targets Iranian Military Oil Sales
The U.S. government has filed a civil forfeiture complaint seeking $61 million in cryptocurrency allegedly linked to black market sales of sanctioned Iranian crude oil and petroleum products.
The funds are said to have been used to finance the Iranian government and its military components, according to the complaint filed by the U.S. government on September 15, 2026.
The seizure is part of ongoing efforts to enforce sanctions against Iran and disrupt its ability to fund its military activities through illicit means.
