$65M Gilded Age Mansion Lists on NYC's Upper East Side
A stunning Gilded Age mansion in New York City's Upper East Side has hit the market for $65 million. The palatial home, located at 15 East 96th Street, boasts an impressive 14,800 square feet of living space spread across five floors.
The property features eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and three powder rooms, as well as 11 fireplaces, an elevator, and a Louis XIV, style library. The mansion also includes a solarium, a heated driveway, and a turntable garage.
The building has a rich history, having been built in 1915 for Lucy Drexel Dahlgren, the daughter of financier John W. Drexel. Over the years, it has changed hands with several well-heeled owners, including Pierre Cartier, the heir to the Cartier jewelry house.
The current owner is the late Iranian billionaire oil executive Hushang Ansary, who purchased the property and passed away in January this year. Sotheby's International Realty is handling the listing.
