80-Year-Old Alberta Resident's Life Defined by Career, Health Challenges
Floyd John Gramlich lived an eventful life in western Canada, spanning over eight decades. Born on February 7, 1946, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, Floyd grew up on a small farm with his family before moving to Compeer, Alberta, where he began attending school.
Gramlich's career in banking lasted over three decades, taking him throughout Alberta and briefly to British Columbia. After leaving the financial sector, he worked on seismic mapping for oil companies, covering areas in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
The onset of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2001 marked a significant turning point in Floyd's life, forcing him to slow down his pace significantly. Complications from MS led to other health issues, including heart problems in 2021 and lung issues following a bout with COVID-19 in 2022.
Floyd passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind family members who provided him love and support throughout his journey. His obituary serves as a testament to his life's ups and downs, including his leisurely travels along Alberta's waterways before his passing.
