Aba Power Outage Ends as Geometric Plant's Gas Supply Resumes

A nine-day electricity outage in Aba, Nigeria has come to an end after gas supply to the Geometric Power Plant resumed. According to Edise Ekong, the Aba Power Brand and Communications Manager, power was restored at around 5 am on Saturday when gas pressure hit 40 bars.

The Geometric Power Plant, which supplies electricity to Aba Power and the surrounding area, had been affected by a collapsed Clutch Gear and Starter Motor part of the Associated Gas Gathering (AGG) facilities in Rivers State. The facility was installed over 50 years ago, making it difficult to find replacement parts.

Heirs Energies, the operator of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 17, successfully imported a lone Clutch Gear and Starter Motor part from the United States and flew it into Nigeria within a few days. This effort has been commended by Aba Power's Managing Director, Ugo Opiegbe.

Opiegbe expressed gratitude to individuals, businesses, and groups in Aba for their understanding and solidarity during the power outage. He also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Alex Otti, the Abia State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, and the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Commission in resolving the issue.
