Nigeria has witnessed another surge in petrol prices, with Abuja residents now facing as much as N1,299 per litre at some filling stations. The price hike comes after a brief downward trend following earlier reductions by Dangote Refinery's gantry price. MRS filling stations along the Kubwa Expressway and Lugbe Expressway have increased their pump price from N1,210 to N1,230 per litre.

A manager at an MRS filling station confirmed that the price increase was based on a directive from the company's headquarters in Lagos, stating 'We got the directive to raise our price by N20 to N1,230 per litre on Friday, but no reason was given.'

The development follows a rise in global crude oil prices, with Brent crude trading above $94 per barrel. The increase marks a reversal of the downward trend witnessed in the domestic petrol market over recent weeks.
