Abuja Petrol Prices Hike Again as Dangote Ex-Depot Price Hits N1,265

Abuja residents are facing another hike in petrol prices, with several filling stations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) increasing their pump prices following a rise in Dangote Refinery's ex-depot price.

The latest adjustment sees the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, reach N1,265 per litre, up from N1,200 just days ago. This increase is despite a decline in international crude oil prices, with benchmark prices falling from about $92 to $87.31 per barrel.

Filling stations such as AY Shafa and Optima have raised their pump prices accordingly, with some motorists now paying up to N1,300 per litre for petrol. Meanwhile, economist Samson Ogunjimi has expressed concern over the growing financial pressure on households and businesses due to rising fuel prices.

In a statement, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) National Publicity Secretary Chinedu Ukadike explained that marketers were compelled to review their prices following successive adjustments by Dangote Refinery. He noted that frequent price changes are creating uncertainty for both marketers and consumers.
