AC Prices Set to Soar as Daikin and Blue Star Hike Costs Amid Rising Production Expenses
Consumers planning to buy air conditioners (ACs) this Diwali or during winter may face higher prices due to rising production costs. According to industry leaders, Daikin and Blue Star have already increased prices by 8-10% and 5-8%, respectively.
Daikin's Chairman and Managing Director Kanwaljeet Jawa attributed the price hike to rising copper prices, a stronger dollar, and costlier materials. 'Copper prices have gone up by almost 25-35%. The dollar is strengthening, and commodity prices continue to rise,' Jawa said.
Blue Star's Managing Director B Thiagarajan also mentioned that copper, steel, and plastics had become costlier due to the US-Iran war. This marks the industry's third round of price increases in 2026.
AC prices are expected to rise by 5-8% across the industry. Manufacturers face higher metal prices, transport expenses, and currency fluctuations amid the West Asia crisis.
