ADNOC and Gulf Group Expand LNG Supply Deal for Asian Markets
ADNOC has solidified a long-term partnership with Thailand's Gulf Group through a multi-year agreement to supply approximately 2 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Asian markets starting in 2027. This deal, facilitated by ADNOC's LNG marketing and trading platform, underscores the company's commitment to expanding its global gas business and strengthening its presence in international markets. Nasser Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of ADNOC Downstream Industry, Marketing & Trading, highlighted that the agreement extends a previous supply arrangement with Gulf Group and reinforces ADNOC's dedication to ensuring reliable energy supplies for Thailand and its Asian customers.
Sarath Ratanavadi, CEO of Gulf Development Public Company, emphasized that the agreement is part of a strategy to build a diversified and resilient LNG portfolio. He noted that securing midstream infrastructure, shipping capacity, and partnerships with leading suppliers enhances the flexibility and scalability needed to meet growing energy demand while supporting the region's energy transition. The deal builds on an existing relationship between ADNOC and Gulf Group, which began with an LNG supply agreement in 2025.
ADNOC launched its integrated LNG marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The platform aims to offer greater flexibility and shipping options as ADNOC broadens its LNG portfolio. The company is targeting more than 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG beyond 2030, positioning itself among the major global LNG suppliers. ADNOC Trading, the counterparty for LNG trading activities, has expanded its third-party LNG portfolio with offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Geneva.
The new agreement marks another step in ADNOC's strategy to enhance the scale, flexibility, and optionality of its LNG offerings amid rising worldwide demand. It also reflects Gulf Group's focus on strengthening each part of the value chain, ensuring the group's ability to serve growing energy needs in the region.
