ADNOC secures multi-year LNG supply deal with Thailand’s Gulf Group
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has secured a multi-year agreement to supply approximately 2 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Thailand’s Gulf Group. The sales and purchase agreement, announced on October 5, will see ADNOC Trading begin deliveries starting in 2027. This deal builds upon an existing partnership established in 2025 when the two companies first signed an LNG supply agreement. It also expands ADNOC Trading’s direct LNG deliveries to Asian markets.
Nasser Al Muhairi, acting CEO of ADNOC Downstream Industry, Marketing & Trading, emphasized that the agreement reinforces ADNOC’s commitment to ensuring reliable energy supplies to Thailand and other Asian customers. He noted that the deal enhances ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, providing greater flexibility and optionality to meet growing global demand.
Gulf Group CEO Sarath Ratanavadi highlighted that the agreement aligns with the company’s strategy to build a diversified LNG portfolio and strengthen its position across the gas value chain. By securing midstream infrastructure, shipping capacity, and relationships with leading suppliers, Gulf Group aims to fortify every link of its value chain.
The agreement comes amid ongoing supply and shipping disruptions in the global LNG market, particularly those linked to the conflict in the Middle East and risks surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical transit route for Gulf LNG. The International Energy Agency reported that disruptions through Hormuz have reduced LNG supplies from Qatar and the UAE by over 300 million cubic meters per day since March.
ADNOC is expanding its LNG trading capabilities, having launched its global LNG marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The company aims to reach 47 million tonnes per year of marketable LNG beyond 2030, positioning itself among the major global LNG suppliers. ADNOC Trading operates from Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Geneva, connecting its LNG portfolio with customers in key international markets.
