ADNOC to Supply 2 Million Tonnes of LNG to Thailand from 2027
ADNOC Trading, the trading arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), has signed a long-term agreement to supply 2 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Thailand starting in 2027. The deal, signed with Gulf Group, Thailand’s leading energy and infrastructure conglomerate, builds on an earlier partnership established in 2025. This agreement marks another milestone for ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, which was launched in July.
Nasser Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of ADNOC Downstream Industry, Marketing and Trading, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing reliable energy supplies to Thailand and other Asian customers. The deal enhances ADNOC’s ability to deliver flexible and scalable LNG solutions to the region. Sarath Ratanavadi, CEO of Gulf Development Public Company Limited, highlighted how the agreement strengthens Gulf Group’s value chain, enabling it to meet growing energy demand while supporting the region’s energy transition.
The Thailand deal comes as ADNOC seeks to expand its LNG marketing and trading business globally. The company’s integrated LNG platform aims to achieve 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG by 2035, positioning it among the leading global LNG players. This expansion is supported by new production capacity, including the Ruwais LNG project, which is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028 with a production capacity of 9.6 mtpa.
