Adnoc to supply 2 million tonnes of LNG to Thailand under new agreement
Adnoc has secured a major long-term deal to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Thailand. The agreement, signed with Gulf Group, a Thai energy and infrastructure conglomerate, involves delivering approximately 2 million tonnes of LNG starting in 2027. This multi-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) builds on an earlier partnership between the two companies.
Nasser Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of Adnoc Downstream Industry, Marketing & Trading, highlighted the significance of the deal. He stated that it reinforces Adnoc’s commitment to providing reliable energy supplies to Thailand and other Asian customers. The agreement also marks another milestone in Adnoc’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, enhancing its ability to meet growing global demand.
Sarath Ratanavadi, CEO of Gulf Development Public Company Limited, noted that the deal aligns with Gulf Group’s strategy of building a diversified and resilient LNG portfolio. He emphasized that securing midstream infrastructure and shipping capacity strengthens the company’s value chain, enabling it to meet rising energy demand while supporting the region’s energy transition.
Adnoc launched its global LNG marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The platform aims to scale up Adnoc’s capacity to optimize a growing and diverse LNG portfolio, targeting 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG beyond 2030. Adnoc Trading remains the counterparty for LNG trading activities, connecting the portfolio with customers across key international markets.
