Afghanistan and Iran Strengthen Energy Cooperation Amid Ongoing Efforts
Afghanistan and Iran have taken steps to strengthen their energy cooperation, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Ahmad Jan Bilal, General Director of State-Owned Corporations, led a delegation to Tehran to meet with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad. The two sides discussed ways to supply Afghanistan with its oil and gas needs, as well as joint cooperation in exploration.
The Afghan delegation visited the Iranian Oil Ministry's research center and oil refineries, where they reviewed technical and professional activities and capabilities. The Iranian side expressed readiness for comprehensive cooperation, including coordination and implementation of joint projects.
Following the meeting, both sides introduced joint technical teams to oversee the agreed areas of cooperation. This development is expected to enhance energy security in Afghanistan and promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
