African Energy Chamber Partners with GSMS to Export Canadian LPG and LNG to Africa

The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canadian project developer Ground State Market Solutions (GSMS) to explore Canadian energy exports to Africa. The two-year agreement aims to assess LPG and LNG supply opportunities from Canada to African markets, initially focusing on West Africa.

The collaboration will examine the commercial, logistical, and regulatory requirements for connecting Canadian energy supplies with African demand. GSMS will coordinate the Canadian supply and export concept, engaging potential suppliers, railway and logistics companies, and terminal operators. The Calgary-based company will also support discussions around provincial and federal regulations, permitting, and export facilities.

The AEC will lead efforts around African market access and offtake, identifying and facilitating engagement with governments, national energy companies, distributors, traders, infrastructure operators, financiers, and potential buyers. Initial efforts will focus on West Africa, although the agreement allows the parties to pursue shorter-term supply opportunities alongside longer-term arrangements supporting the third-quarter 2029 target.
