Agricultural Futures Rise Across Corn Soybeans and Wheat on October 6
The Chicago Board of Trade saw gains across key agricultural futures on Tuesday, October 6. Corn futures for December delivery rose 11 points to $5.08 per bushel, while March contracts climbed 11 points to $5.22. Soybean futures also showed strength, with November contracts up 24 points at $13.04 per bushel and January contracts rising 23 points to $13.20. Wheat futures for December and March saw increases of 12 and 11 points, respectively, settling at $7.04 and $7.17 per bushel.
Live cattle futures experienced significant gains, with October contracts up 382 points at $221.07 per hundredweight and December contracts rising 407 points to $224.05. Feeder cattle futures followed a similar trend, with October contracts up 662 points at $340.47 per hundredweight and November contracts climbing 812 points to $338.25.
From Underwood Grain, future crop prices also showed upward momentum. The 2026 crop corn price increased 10 points to $6.53 per bushel, while the 2027 crop corn price rose 6 points to $6.38 per bushel. Soybean futures for 2026 and 2027 crops were up 22 and 15 points, respectively, settling at $17.23 and $16.39 per bushel. Soft red winter wheat for 2026 and 2027 crops saw increases of 12 and 11 points, respectively, at $8.29 and $8.69 per bushel.
In the Ontario pork market, the U.S. CME price rose $0.53 to $79.39 per hundredweight, dressed weight. However, the 100% formula price declined $1.38 to $205.95 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
