Agricultural Markets Swing Wildly Amid Uncertainty
The agricultural and livestock markets are experiencing a mixed day on September 16th, 2026. As of mid-morning, corn and soybeans are leading the way in price decreases, while wheat is showing some resilience with the exception of MIAX. The U.S. Dollar Index is up by 0.080 points, and crude oil is correcting its previous gains, down $4.02 per barrel.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has also taken a hit, down 33.42 points. In contrast, December gold prices are rising, up $54.00 per ounce. The absence of new China soy purchases and the upcoming Trump-Xi meeting at the White House in eight days is contributing to market uncertainty.
The livestock complex, including live cattle, feeder cattle, and lean hogs, continues to trade lower as traders await more fundamental support before making further advances. As a result, cash cattle trade has yet to develop.
