Akakus Oil Targets 355k bpd Production by Mid-2027
Akakus Oil Company is working to boost its production levels by mid-2027. The company aims to reach approximately 355,000 barrels per day (bpd) at that time.
The target was announced during a meeting between Akakus and the National Oil Corporation (NOC), which took place at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting discussed operational and financial performance results for 2026 and proposed strategic plans for the coming period.
The attendees commended Akakus' teams for their rapid response to a fire on the main 30-inch export pipeline last March, which ensured the safety of operations and the continuity of exports. The Sharara field achieved outstanding production levels, peaking at approximately 335,000 bpd in August 2026.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on a set of strategic priorities for the coming year, including organizing workshops to discuss development plans for the (S) field and development drilling programs for 2027. Other priorities include enhancing production sustainability, expediting the implementation of safety systems, proceeding with the Sharara field's reservoir development plan, and completing approved maintenance work within allocated budgets.
