The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has updated its directives to make oil and gas companies more environmentally responsible in Alberta, Canada. The updates include stricter regulations on emissions from upstream petroleum industry activities.

AER Directive 060 now requires that the venting rate for natural gas-operated positioners must be less than 0.17 m3/hr at steady-state conditions. This is part of a broader effort to limit emissions and record them for submission. The Flowserve Logix 3800 electro-pneumatic digital positioner has been certified to meet these standards.

N2X Process Solutions, a Canadian company that supplies valve and actuation solutions, has developed a low-bleed version of the Flowserve Logix 3800 positioner specifically for natural gas and air media. This solution is designed to reduce emissions by minimizing the amount of air required for operation.
