Alberta Suspends Provincial Fuel Tax Amid Rising Oil Prices

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has welcomed the decision by Alberta's government to suspend a provincial fuel tax for three months.

The 13-cent-per-litre surcharge on gasoline and diesel will be put on hold from October 1st to December 31st due to rising world oil prices, according to Premier Danielle Smith's announcement.

This move comes after the failed rebate cheque program introduced in the summer, which only saw a third of Albertans attempt to claim their money back.
