Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered swift action to restore power and control prices of essential commodities in the wake of Cyclone Murasu. During a review meeting on Saturday, Naidu assessed the damage and directed officials to speed up relief efforts, including financial aid for victims and monitoring of field-level operations.
Officials reported that nearly 92% of the assessment for horticultural crop damage had been completed, with the remaining agricultural crop assessments expected by November 9. Power restoration efforts are underway in 1,825 villages, with 7,850 damaged poles already repaired. Additionally, 30,000 poles damaged during Cyclone Arnav had been fixed, and power supply had been restored to all affected villages.
The Civil Supplies Department has distributed essential commodities to 3.82 lakh affected families. Naidu reviewed measures to regulate prices of onions, rice, palm oil, red gram dal, and wheat flour. Onions are being sold at ₹35 per kg through Rythu Bazaars, while rice varieties are priced between ₹47 and ₹82 per kg. Cases have been registered against 204 traders for violating government directives.
Subsidized rice has been sold through 150 counters at Rythu Bazaars, benefiting 1.03 lakh families. Arrangements are being made to supply palm oil at ₹125 per litre, red gram dal at ₹100 per kg, and wheat flour at ₹25 per kg through ration shops.
