Apollo Weighs Sale of Energos LNG Fleet to XRG Investment Group
Funds managed by Apollo Global Management are considering the sale of Energos Infrastructure's LNG fleet to XRG, a move that would grant the international investment group access to already-deployed import and regasification assets. The fleet comprises 13 vessels, including 9 floating storage and regasification units (FSRU), 2 floating storage units without regasification (FSU), and 2 liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC).
The sale would follow an exploratory process initiated by Apollo in September 2026. However, no press release, regulatory filing, or corporate document has been made public to confirm the transactional hypothesis. Energos Infrastructure was formed on August 15, 2022, as a result of a partnership between Apollo and New Fortress Energy, which transferred 11 vessels to the new entity in exchange for approximately $1.85 billion in cash and a 20% equity stake.
XRG, owned by ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), presents an industrial profile consistent with a potential stake in Energos Infrastructure. The economic value of the deal would depend on vessel-by-vessel contracts, associated control rights, the platform's debt level, residual commitments to New Fortress Energy, and change-of-control provisions attached to the charter agreements.
