Aramco Diversifies Oil Deliveries Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions

Saudi Aramco has been offering crude oil located outside the Strait of Hormuz to several Asian refiners through private negotiations. The strategy is an alternative for Aramco as it faces prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, similar to an approach taken by Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) of the United Arab Emirates.

Aramco is negotiating with several buyers to supply Arab Medium and Arab Heavy crude through ship-to-ship transfers in waters off Fujairah, UAE. One source said the cargoes were scheduled to be loaded in September 2026.

The offers indicate that oil companies are seeking alternative routes to deliver supplies following prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. Aramco has also diverted exports of Arab Light crude through the Port of Yanbu on the Red Sea, which began after the war in Iran started.
