Aramco Insists It Can Weather Disruptions with Flexibility
Saudi Aramco's President and CEO Amin Nasser confidently stated that any interruption to operations can be fixed within days. This assertion comes as the company explores alternative oil export routes, including a fourth and fifth route in addition to its three primary pathways.
Nasser emphasized that Aramco's operations have built-in flexibility to continue serving customers even during disruptions, citing the example of the Sumed pipeline as an often-overlooked option. He noted that observers frequently assume there are only two major export routes through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.
The company is also considering expanding its overseas storage capacity, including in Japan, to strengthen its ability to withstand disruptions. Nasser stated that Aramco has 'multiple optionality' that allows it to meet customer demand despite any interruptions.
