Saudi Aramco's second-quarter profit surged by 33% to US$33.4 billion, exceeding analysts' estimates of US$31.1 billion compiled by Bloomberg.

The boost was largely due to a war-driven increase in oil prices, with benchmark Brent crude averaging almost US$97 a barrel during the quarter.

Aramco redirected most exports to the Red Sea to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which saw the biggest oil supply disruption in history.
