Aramco Profits Surge as East-West Pipeline Eases Hormuz Disruption
Saudi Aramco reported a significant increase in profits for the first quarter of 2026, citing higher exports as the primary reason. The state-owned company's profit rose by 25% year on year to $32.5 billion, with CEO Amin H Nasser attributing the gain to the use of the East-West Pipeline.
The pipeline, which runs at maximum capacity of 7 million barrels per day, has helped to mitigate the impact of shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by the Iran war. The company used domestic infrastructure and its global network to keep exports moving despite the headwinds.
Nasser emphasized the importance of reliable energy supply, stating that recent events have 'clearly demonstrated the vital contribution of oil and gas to energy security and the global economy.' Aramco remains focused on strategic priorities and aims to manage disruption effectively.
