Aramco Unveils Plan for Gas Division Amid LNG Ambitions

Saudi Aramco is reorganizing its structure to create an independent gas division, which could pave the way for a future IPO of a minority stake in this unit. The company currently organizes its main operations into two major segments: upstream and downstream.

The new gas division will allow Saudi Aramco to concentrate the development of its national natural gas resources in a single structure and advance in building an international portfolio of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Jafurah, Aramco's main unconventional gas development in Saudi Arabia, is a key asset in this strategy.

Aramco is also considering listing a minority stake in its future gas division on the stock exchange as an additional way to obtain financing. This move aligns with a strategy used by several large Gulf state oil companies, such as ADNOC.
