Araqchi Urges Dialogue as Saudi-Yemen Conflict Escalates
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is calling for dialogue to resolve the escalating conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen.
The conflict has been ongoing since 2023, with the Houthis declaring a 'blockade' on Saudi-linked shipping and intensifying attacks on global trade routes in the Red Sea. On Saturday, Houthi forces fired on Saudi oil facilities at Red Sea ports, causing possible damage to fuel and oil storage facilities.
Araqchi stressed that 'there is no military solution to the conflict,' arguing that Yemen's problems stem from long-standing regional disputes rather than being solely Tehran's responsibility. He emphasized the need for talks involving Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and other regional actors to resolve the crisis.
