Argentina Gains Ground in Indian Vegetable Oil Market Amid Record Sunflower Output
Argentina is expanding its presence in India's vegetable oil market due to strong Indian demand and increasing domestic production. The bilateral trade between Argentina and India reached $6.5 billion in 2025, with agricultural products making up a significant share.
Argentina remains one of India's key suppliers of soybean and sunflower oil. In 2025, the country exported soybean oil to India worth $3.712 billion, while shipments from the sunflower complex totaled $788 million.
The growth in Argentine production is attributed to a record level of sunflower output, reaching 7.4 million tons in the MY 2025/26. Argentina's substantial crushing capacity provides room for further expansion in exports of vegetable oils and processed products.
