Argentina LNG Project Aims for $51 Billion Investment
Argentina's YPF has filed an application for its Argentina LNG project to join the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), along with partners Eni and XRG, in a bid to export liquefied natural gas from the Vaca Muerta formation.
The estimated investment of $51 billion over the project's full life makes it the largest figure submitted so far under the scheme. The project includes gas production in Neuquén province, dedicated transport infrastructure, and two floating liquefaction units with a combined capacity of 12 million tonnes a year, which will operate off the coast of Río Negro from 2031.
Horacio Marín, YPF's chairman and chief executive, stated that the project 'will generate employment, technological development, local suppliers and an unprecedented international position for our country.'
