Argentina Targets Companies Over Malvinas Oil Production
Argentina's government has announced plans to take legal action against several companies involved in oil production near the disputed Malvinas (Falkland) Islands. The administration of President Javier Milei stated that Navitas Petroleum Development & Production Ltd., Navitas Petroleum Atlantic United, Navitas Petroleum LP, JHI Associates Inc., and Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas obtained licenses from the British administration on the islands to explore for and produce hydrocarbons in the North Malvinas Basin without authorization from Buenos Aires. This move is seen as a violation of national legislation.
The Foreign Ministry has revealed that Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Minister Pablo Quirno will file a criminal complaint against the mentioned companies. The Argentine government also plans to pursue legal action against shareholders of these companies involved in the alleged violations.
