Gold prices are up slightly today as the US dollar weakens, and investors await key inflation data that may influence the Federal Reserve's next move. Spot gold is trading at $4,418.79 per ounce, a 0.3% increase since yesterday.

The US dollar index has slipped 0.3%, making gold more affordable for holders of other currencies. The upcoming release of producer price index data on Thursday and consumer price index data on Friday will be closely watched by markets.

Despite its reputation as an inflation hedge, elevated interest rates tend to reduce the appeal of non-yielding assets like gold. Deutsche Bank now expects the European Central Bank to raise interest rates by 25 basis points in December in addition to a September hike.
