Argentina's Farm Exports Set for Near-Record Windfall Amid Global Supply Disruptions
Argentina's farm sector is set for a near-record windfall in 2027 as global supply disruptions boost grain shipments and hard-currency inflows. According to the Rosario grains exchange, the country could bring in around USD40 billion in export dollars next year, second only to 2022.
The farm sector is Argentina's main source of foreign currency, essential for replenishing central bank reserves, stabilizing the peso, and supporting government finances.
Rosario projects a total grain harvest of 156 million metric tons in 2026/27, one of the largest ever. International prices for corn, wheat, and soy have been supported by supply risks in the Black Sea region, where conflict has disrupted Russian and Ukrainian exports.
Argentine farmers are benefiting from the disruption, with corn sales exceeding 1 million tons per week for four consecutive weeks and wheat export commitments at their highest level in five years.
