Argentina's mining sector has seen significant growth in recent months, with record exports totaling US$4.7 billion for the first six months of 2026.

This represents a 9.7% share of the country's total exports and is driven by increased production and higher international prices for lithium, gold, and other precious metals.

The sector's growth has been fueled by a combination of factors, including the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI), which has attracted major initiatives related to lithium, copper, gold, and silver.

According to Roberto Cacciola, president of the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies (CAEM), 'Argentina has world-class geological resources, particularly in copper, lithium, gold, and silver, in an international context where the energy transition is driving growing demand for critical minerals.'
