Arizona Metals' Kay Mine Project Boasts Viable Economics at Current Spot Prices
Arizona Metals Corp (TSXV:AMC) recently released its preliminary economic assessment for the Kay Mine project in Yavapai County, Arizona. The study used commodity price assumptions of $4.70 per pound copper, $1.27 per pound zinc, $3,100 per ounce gold, and $38 per ounce silver, which are below current spot prices.
The base case showed a negative after-tax net present value (NPV) and a sub-5% internal rate of return (IRR), indicating that the project is economically marginal at these price assumptions. However, when using late-April 2026 spot prices, the study produced an after-tax NPV of $445 million and a 14.9% IRR.
The Kay Mine PEA envisions a 10-year conceptual mine life processing 6.6 million tonnes of the deposit, producing 127 million pounds of copper, 293 million pounds of zinc, 258,000 ounces of gold, and 4.7 million ounces of silver.
